Another month, another mod by Coolmiester. Sometimes it seems that way, doesn't it? Much like E.E.L. Ambiense, Coolmiester has frequently been a bridesmaid and never the bride in our Mod of the Month competition.
In reality, that's got very little to do with his fantastic mods and everything to do with his very stiff competition. And though the competition is once again pretty tough this month, Paul's back with another great attempt - this time tearing the heck out of another Cooler Master Cosmos.
Paul's got some pretty heavy hitters in his sponsor list for this mod, including a full setup with the new Intel Skulltrail motherboard and Zotac Nvidia graphics cards. And as usual, it'll be watercooled to the nines. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's take a look at what he's accomplished so far.
As is incredibly common for any of Paul's mods, his love of bikes and cars is a heavy influence. These vents will be added to the side panels of the case, and are actually aftermarket replacements for a Peugeot 206.
Of course, everything had to be stripped off of the original Cosmos. Part of that was just for the convenience of getting it out of the way, part of it was to send the sides and all of the trim off for their shiny black powdercoat, and then a part was just to help see how much room there really would be for the three watercooling loops.
Paul is showing a little extra love to his generous sponsors at Zotac by creating an addition to the front fascia for them. The final mod will contain several metal plates on the front, so why not make one for them? Paul cut all of this with his trusty scroll saw - no laser cutting here, folks!
Even the watercooling, as gorgeous as it could be on its own, is getting some special treatment. For instance, the waterblocks are each getting matching brushed aluminium covers to them, just like the front panel.
The front panel would feature the Zotac logo, a four-inch LCD display and a couple other goodies, all of which had to be properly built into the theme of the case with brushed aluminium and hex-head bolts. Oh, did I mention other goodies? That could include these gorgeous bay-res additions...but you should probably go check out the
worklog to see just how crazy this build will get!
On your way there, make sure to take a second and
vote for Cosmos-Skulltrail by Coolmiester if you think it's worthy of this month's Mod of the Month!
